Our department is capable of professional video recording and editing. The available video recording formats are analog BETA SP, digital DVCAM, or Hard Disk Recording.

Recording Packages:

DVCAM Digital Video Package: Camera, digital record deck, wired microphone. Maximum tape
length is 184 minutes. Full day rental: $400.00 Half day rental : $275.00

BETA SP Package: Studio version camera, full size beta sp recording deck, wired microphone.
Full day rental: $400.00 Half day rental : $275.00. Maximum tape length is 90 minutes. A second
record deck to provide continuous overlapped recording is $250.00 additional for events longer than
90 minutes

DSR-50 Recording Package: Studio version camera, nNovia hard disk recorder, wireless microphone
Full day: $240.00 Half day: $175.00

JVC JY-HD10 Camcorder Package: for customer pickup, this package includes a camcorder and
tripod. For Caltech-related projects only, not for personal use. $100.00
Note: Mini DV tape stock is available

Canon XH-A1 Camcorder Recording Package: with technician only, the package includes the
camera, nNovia hard disk recorder, and wireless microphone. $140.00

Additional microphone considerations:
The choice of microphones is essential to successfully recording the audio portion of your video. AVS can suggest accompanying audio equipment that will complement your recording.

Video Editing:
$75.00 per hour (1/2 hour minimum)
Our fully-equipped editing facility can incorporate titles, graphics, narration, and other visual
materials into your media product. The system includes:
